The Blue Oyster Mushroom, Pleurotus Ostreatus, is likely the most medicinal mushroom of all oyster mushrooms. Blue oyster mushrooms are a natural source of the statin drug lovastatin. Most oysters contain this substance to some degree. Besides being a highly medicinal mushroom, blue oysters are one of the best mushrooms for stir fry and soups. They are also a great topping for steaks. Like most oysters, they can be used for bioremediation projects; able to metabolize both organic and chemical contamination. They prefer cooler temperatures, though some varieties can tolerate warmer climates.

The main point of this picture is to demonstrate how king oysters side fruit.

Phoenix Oyster Mushroom
Red Reishi

Phoenix Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus Pulmonarius), also known as the Italian oyster, is a warmth loving mushroom. Like King Oysters, it can grow huge. It has a delicious flavor, and medicinally, it is similar to the Blue Oyster and King Blue Oyster. (Lovastatin)

Reishi is a highly medicinal mushroom. It has much health benefits including reducing cancer, reducing stress and anxiety, boosting the immune system, and improving sleep. It is not a gourmet mushroom, because it is very woody, and its bitter taste may be off putting to many. It is often consumed as a tea or powdered and put into capsules or added to foods and soups. Reishi boosts the immune system. Many studies have confirmed this. It increases white blood count, which is crucial in activating the immune system and fighting pathogens. Reishi may inhibit the growth and spread of cancer cells. They contain beta-glucans. These are complex sugars that help fight cancer cells.

Red Reshi are the most potent Rashi mushroom. It is the only one that I grow regularly. These are pictures of Red Rashi Mushrooms.
